Hi! My name is Duane Patrick Miller II
I’m a graduate student pursuing my M.S. in Psychology with an emphasis in Human Factors at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ (expected graduation April 2026).
I enjoy bridging psychology and technology to improve system usability and user trust.

Research and Case studies
My featured work showcases my understanding of human factors psychology and its applications across disciplines.
Topics range from human factors, ergonomics, psychophysics, UX/UI design, trust in automated systems, and psychosocial perspectives. If you would like to know more, please reach out!
User Trust in AI Assistants
Human–Technology Interaction & User Trust
Designed an experimental study exploring how personalized ChatGPT-5 profiles and experience level affect end-user trust during a simple planning task. Included a proposed 2x2 factorial design modeled after similar studies centered on AI-driven communication and figures.
Discussed current research related to trust factors and interactive contexts. Suggested future research ideas regarding trustworthiness of virtual assistants and companions.
Ergonomic Workstation Rework
Ergonomics & User-Friendly System Design
Redesigned a workstation for a law firm, applying anthropometric data, work demands, and OSHA checklists.
Balanced efficiency and comfort with modular furniture, enhanced digital components, and ergonomic tools. Also attributed worker well-being to environmental factors.
AI-Oversight and Employee Monitoring
Social Psychology & Occupational Environments
Synthesized a literature review on AI-driven employee surveillance software and the emotional and motivational impacts.
Highlighted that algorithmic oversight can trigger evaluation apprehension, conformity, and stress, showing the importance of human-centered, ethical remote/hybrid work settings.
Signal Detection Theory and Mental Model Assessment
Psychophysics & Smart Systems
Reviewed a 2023 HFES study applying Signal Detection Theory to survey methods to evaluate how drivers perceive Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Emphasized the use of psychophysical theories to identify flawed mental models, acknowledging the significance of this approach and the future of systems research.
Perception and Accessibility Case Studies
Sensation, Perception and Inclusive Designs
Analyzed how sensory limitations related to strabismus and low-color vision alter perception, quality of life, and accessibility.
Recognized how perceptual differences create the need for inclusive interfaces. Suggested salient cues and mindful designs to support people with rare conditions.
